The ROVer Ranch is an online activity that is geared for children and adults. The information collected from ROVer Ranch users consists of the user's email address and their grade level. The email address is required to complete the ROVer Ranch building functions and the grade level is requested for statistical reporting purposes. A cookie is used to maintain a file structure of student's robots, robot scripts and robot simulations. Users are only able to communicate within their teacher assigned workgroups. The JSC LTP does not sell or distribute information obtained from users to third parties.
JSC LTP sends an email notice to parents when children under 13 register for Qwhiz or ROVer Ranch activities. Upon registration a user must indicate their age group and if under 13, include their parents email address. This action generates an automatic email to the parents that includes the child's user id and password to access the child's personal work space and a mechanism to reply to JSC LTP indicating parental approval/disapproval for the child's participation.
JSC LTP Web logs are used to determine usage statistics. Individuals are not tracked with this information. IP addresses are collected as part of the logging system and are used only in the case of a security breach.
